Secrets

I've mentioned the Post Secret website before, but felt it needed another mention for this postcard published this week. :)

And for another perspective, go read this, on "Harry Potter and the Death of Reading." I'm not bashing HP at all here, just found both items to be interesting!

I really have enjoyed the Harry Potter books, and the children and I also enjoy discussing them. True, they are not great literature, but they are a fun adventure, and with boys the ages of the characters (almost) I am intrigued by how much Rowling captured the quirks of that age group!

That said, I do agree with the author of the article you suggested (who doesn't like the Potter books): people don't know how to find fiction they will enjoy, and won't make time to read. Personally, I think a lot of the books suggested for teens are either too out of date or just stupid. I don't think that reading just any old thing is an improvement on not reading at all...

Still, though I like books, I don't often make time for pure fiction any more. Perhaps I should.

Glad you posted today!
